After earning a degree in mathematics from Nebraska, Ted began his career in banking and then moved to technology when he joined American Airlines as a computer programmer. In his time at AA he helped create the SABRE reservation system, a groundbreaking innovation in the airline industry. At that time, Ted also served as president of the Tulsa Chinese American Association and was instrumental in establishing a sister city relationship with Kaoshiung Taiwan.
In Tulsa, Ted felt a call to ministry and while working full time, he started attending seminary eventually earning degrees in theology. At this time he also founded Tulsa International Baptist Church (TIBC) in 1989. Later he accepted a call as a church planter for the Baptist General Convention Oklahoma (BGCO). Over the next ten years, Ted was involved in launching over 400 churches primarily focused on Asians (AAPI) and communities of color. He also baptised or married literally hundreds of people over this same time.
After retiring from the BGCO, Ted returned to pastor TIBC for another 8 years and helped support a new para church ministry called Pioneers. There he focused on supporting church planters through building curriculums and serving as a mentor to many.
Pastor Ted was known for his great humor, captive storytelling, hospitality, generosity, and deep devotion to his wife and family. He lived a full life and was blessed to have been an influence to so many followers of Jesus. Source: https://www.facebook.com/tllinok
