Job Summary

Agape Chinese Baptist Church, a growing Chinese Baptist church in Charlotte, NC is seeking a part-time youth director. The Youth Director is chiefly responsible for overseeing the Middle School and High School students in the church youth ministry, encouraging them to live out their Christian faith in every area of life. The Youth Director will report directly to the church Pastor.

Roles and Responsibilities of the Position

1. Actively engages discipleship and mentoring of Middle School and High School students.
2. Provides oversight, leadership, and ensures the ongoing effectiveness of youth programs.
3. Serves to support and resource parents as they fulfill their responsibility as the primary nurturing presence in the lives of their children and teens.
4. Administers all aspects of the youth ministry
   • Sunday School (teach, recruit and supervise Sunday school teaching assistant)
   • Weekly discipleship program
   • Plan monthly social/outreach events
   • Plan quarterly service projects
   • Actively disciple a core group of student leaders
5. Coordinates consistent communication with students, parents, volunteers, church pastor, and the broader congregation.
6. Recruits and trains Sunday School teachers and adult volunteers for discipleship and other events.
7. Establishes relationships with families and parents of youth involved in ministry programs.
8. Proactively pursues students in life events and mentoring opportunities outside specific church programs (attending school activities, family events, breakfast/coffee, etc).
9. Maintains the safety policy and background check requirements for all youth ministry volunteers.

Skills/Experience and Attributes

• Formal seminary training or equivalent
• A dedicated follower of Jesus Christ with a clear call to vocational
