Overview
- Here are the descriptions of the volunteers we seek to recruit to support the Chinese Baptist Fellowship online presence expansion.
- We will provide complementary skillset trainings to those who possess part of the ideal skillset, but not completely.
- We expect each position to require no more than 3 hours/week once the volunteer has overcome the initial learning curve.
- We can make use of multiple volunteers for each position to share the workload.
- These volunteers can reside anywhere in the world except for the Media Editor, who would preferably be living in the San Francisco Bay Area.
System Administrator for the Website
Responsibilities
- Manages the ChineseBaptists.org website running on the WordPress platform.
- Manages the knowledge base running on the BetterDocs WordPress plug-in.
Ideal Skillset
- Experience managing WordPress or similar web publishing platforms.
- Understandings of search engine optimization.
- Basic web programming skills in HTML/CSS, XML, JavaScript, and SQL a big plus.
System Administrator for the Learning Management System
Responsibilities
- Manages the Learning Management System ChineseBaptists.org/moodle running on the Moodle platform.
- Manages the Social login system on Moodle.
- Helps courseware development using H5Q platform.
Ideal Skillset
- Experience managing Moodle or similar learning managements.
- Understandings of social login (OAuth).
- Basic web programming skills in HTML/CSS, XML, JavaScript, and SQL a big plus.
- Experience developing interactive courseware.
System Administrator for Social Media
Responsibilities
- Manages the CBF page on Facebook, Twitter, and other social media.
- Manages the CBF chatroom of group chat platforms.
- Manages the social media integration plug-in of the ChineseBaptists.org website.
- Manages the push messaging plug-in of the ChineseBaptists.org website.
Ideal Skillset
- Experience managing WordPress or similar web publishing platforms.
- Understandings of social media and website integration, e.g. using a plug-in such as Blog2Social.
- Understandings of push messaging and website integration, e.g. using a plug-in such as OneSignal.
Media Editor
Responsibilities
- Manages video content, including Zoom meeting recordings.
- Edits video content using video editing tools such as Adobe Premiere and Adobe After Effects.
- Shoots using video cameras and captures video with video mixer hardware or software.
- Publishes video content to video posting sites such as Vimeo and YouTube.
Ideal Skillset
- Experience using Adobe Creative Suite, especially Premiere and After Effects.
- Experience with live video mixer software and hardware, e.g. VMix, ProPresenter, BlackMagic
- Experience posting video to sites like Vimeo and YouTube.
- Experience with Zoom or similar conferencing systems.
Graphics Artist
Responsibilities
- Manages photos
- Takes pictures
- Photo editing
- Acquires illustration graphics assets for articles
- Logo and other vector graphics design
Ideal Skillset
- Experience using Adobe Creative Suite, especially Photoshop and Illustrator.
- Experience with digital photography.
- Experience with stock media asset management.
Creative Director
Responsibilities
- Develops and maintains website, presentations, and print media design stylesheets.
- Manages styling of website layout.
- Manages styling of PowerPoint presentations.
- Manages styling of social media.
- Manages styling of print media.
Ideal Skillset
- Experience using Adobe Creative Suite for developing website elements
- Experience using stock media collection.
- Basic web programming skills in HTML/CSS, XML, JavaScript, and SQL a big plus.
Associate Editor for Chinese Content
Responsibilities
- Edits Chinese-language content to conform to grammatical and stylistic standards.
- Touches up on manual or machine translated content.
Skillset Requirements
- Strong Chinese writing skills.
- Experience using machine translation technologies, specifically DeepL.
- Understanding of standard style guides, such as Associated Press (AP) style and the Chicago Manual of Style (CMOS).
Associate Editor for English Content
Responsibilities
- Edits English-language content to conform to grammatical and stylistic standards.
- Touches up on manual or machine translated content.
